The Women’s Board of the Joffrey Ballet Invites You to the Gala Event of the Year
Chicago (April 2013) – Join the Women’s Board of The Joffrey Ballet on Friday, April 19th for a spectacular celebration of the company and its educational programs. The Joffrey positively impacts the lives of thousands of children, teens and young adults each year through their Community Engagement and Joffrey Academy of Dance programs.
The annual black-tie event begins at 6:30 PM at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 East Congress Parkway) with unforgettable performance pieces by The Joffrey Ballet, including a new piece entitled, “Prokofiev Suite,” created by Alexei Kremnev, Artistic Director of the Joffrey Academy of Dance, the official school of The Joffrey Ballet. In addition to this world premiere, the company will perform Gerald Arpino’s “Light Rain” and other pieces curated by Artistic Director Ashley C. Wheater for this occasion. The program will feature the Joffrey company dancers and over 100 Joffrey students, including the 40 trainees who hail from Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Australia, France, Japan, Korea and the U.S. Highlighted throughout the evening are the transformations and inspirations of a dancer, from the Community Engagement and Joffrey Academy of Dance students to the internationally renowned company dancers.
Following the performances, guests will be whisked away on a trolley to the Chicago Hilton (720 South Michigan Avenue) for cocktails and dinner in the Grand Ballroom. Guests will be treated to a delicious menu created specifically for the Gala by the Chicago Hilton’s Executive Chef. After dinner, the evening will be topped off with a lively after-party, as guests join the Joffrey company members for dancing in the “Blue Star Lounge.” The Hilton will be transformed with amazing dance-inspired floral designs and complementary lighting. Bill Pollack Music will entertain guests from the moment they arrive at the Hilton with “Hot Pink” during cocktails, a full orchestra for dinner and a DJ with live Latin Percussion in the “Blue Star Lounge.” The Luxury Live auction is back – and with even more packages guaranteed to impress (Business Class travel with top-notch accommodations at Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands and at Pristine Bay Resort on the island of Roatán, off the coast of Honduras; and two, exclusive dinners in the home of Artistic Director Ashley C. Wheater.)
Tickets are priced at $750 for the performance and Gala dinner, and tables range from $7,500 to $50,000. For more information on the live auction, tickets or donation inquiries, please contact 312.386.8921 or gala@joffrey.org.

About The Joffrey Ballet:
Since 1995, The Joffrey Ballet has been Chicago’s own ballet company, reaching over 150,000 people annually through its performances, classes and outreach initiatives. Just over five years ago, the Joffrey moved into its first permanent home, Joffrey Tower, at the corner of State and Randolph Streets, in the heart of Chicago’s revitalized theater district, reinforcing its commitment to Chicago and taking its place amongst the city’s preeminent cultural institutions. Joffrey Tower, with its 52,000 square feet of space, is home not only to the Joffrey’s world-class company of dancers, but has become a family center for dance in the North Loop, dedicated to nurturing young talent while also promoting diversity and inclusion in the field of classical ballet.
