Full of energy and bright-eyed, the golfers arrived early to Cog Hill and Country Club in Lemont, one of the America’s Top 100 courses, ready to raise funds for the disabled at the 7th Annual Jerry Meyer Golf Classic, the event organized by the Community Services Foundation on July, 15, 2016. After being greeted, guests had a breakfast, and proceeded to the designated golf carts, eager to showcase their golfing prowess.

The day was filled with cheers, as the golfers were tested by the scenic Dubsdread Course, and as they tried their luck at the Chip-In Challenge, Longest Drive, and competed for a chance to win a car on a Hole-in-One challenge. Alas, many have tried, but the “Hole-in-One” was left as a challenge till next occasion, and the Fiat coupe was returned to the sponsoring dealership.
Post the golfing the attendees rode their golf carts to the outdoor tent where they enjoyed a barbeque luncheon, open bar, 50/50 raffle, and the silent auction. At the luncheon, several beneficiaries spoke about the indispensable service that the Community Services Foundation provides to individuals with challenges.
In the end, the event raised over $36,000.00 for children and adults with disabilities.
It was indeed eye-opening to see so many philanthropically-minded individuals turnout in support of the event. Having met some of the beneficiaries that the foundation impacts with the things some of us take for granted, helped to appreciate just how unique and important this charity organization truly is.
