Arts4Kids Foundation’s International Children’s Day Festival Was A Rousing Success!

A Fundraising Celebration to Promote Children’s Rights, Health and Happiness World-wide.

On a summer-perfect day over 500 young and young-at-heart traveled from every corner of the tri-state area to raise funds in support of sick and/or disadvantaged children locally and abroad. The festival celebrating the International Children’s Day – a day that promotes children’s rights, health and happiness world-wide was held on June 6 at the Cook County Forest Preserve in Wheeling, IL.

The attendees were treated to a sui generis spectacle as the talented performers joined forces in support of a worthy cause and danced, sung, acted, recited poetry, played musical instruments and performed gravity-defying rhythmic gymnastics. The fun-charged event featured a performance, on a wonderfully decorated stage with flowers out of balloons by Bubbleworld, by an award-winning Russian-American recording pop artist, singer and songwriter Marina V (out of L.A.), with local children’s organizations and solo artists partaking in the celebratory performance. The organizations performing in support of the cause were: Antrakt Theater, Bravo Theater, Gorgasali Youth Dance Ensemble, Kayla Alexis, Michael Kleinerman’s Violin School, Michelle Zaslavskaya, Rhyth Mix Gymnastics, and Schaible Theatre. All-throughout the event and between performances, our wonderful DJ Marina engaged kids with their favorite tunes.

Children also enjoyed a variety of fun activities: Pony Rides, Inflatable Bouncy Houses, Arts & Crafts, Face Painting, a special appearance by the renown Shriner’s Clowns, Mini Chess Tournament, Dennis Christie as “The Wandering Magician”, Raffle; and they also had an opportunity to meet some of their favorite characters — Batman and “Alice in Wonderland” from Fairy Castle.

No celebration would be complete without tasty treats. Compliments of our sponsors, children had an opportunity to visit an elaborate and colorful “Sweets Corner” booth by Rodwall Couture Cupcakes, Ice Cream Booth from Lifeway, Pizza Stations from Sarpino’s of Northbrook and Wa-Pa-Ghetti’s, Mediterranean Station from Pita Inn, Beverages from Mariano’s, and Fruits and Beverages from Fresh Farms of Wheeling.
