OAK BROOK,IL, July 3, 2015 – At 10 years old, Brett T. Brown wrote and illustrated his first story. His hard work at a very young age paid-off with a publishing deal in 2013 (220 Publishing) for Haley’s Comet. Brett returns to the Chicago area at 17 to appear on Fox News Good Day Chicago to speak about being a young author/illustrator and touch upon themes in the book- including moving to a new neighborhood, relationships with parents and siblings and bullying.
Since the book’s release, Brett has spoken on radio, TV, and at live appearances both here in Chicago and also in Ohio where he now resides. He has said, “I know a lot of kids who are excellent at sports, writing, art, but lack confidence. Don’t just blend into the background, spread the word. There are too many good young writers in the world that haven’t been discovered.”
Thursday July 9th 1pm at Barnes & Noble at 297 Oak Brook Center young budding authors and their parents will have the opportunity to meet Brett for an official book signing.
Haley’s Comet is a humorous fantasy adventure about overcoming obstacles and challenges as a pre-teen. Brett says, “Some of the book is fictional, while some parts directly or partially relate to my life. It’s almost like a biography of someone else, but you feel like you’ve lived part of their life.»
