Glenview, November 10, 2013.  Aleks Romanenko, president and co-founder of Terra Sounds School of Music and Arts, has been awarded the Tikkun Fellowship-2013 grant, a new Jewish United Fund (JUF) initiative, designed to help support projects created by Russian-speaking Jewish individuals who engage the community in meaningful and significant ways.

The JukeboxGroove Musical Project will be presented on November 17, 2013 at Terra Sounds in Glenview and will celebrate the contributions of Jewish musicians to the global music culture.   JukeboxGroove incorporates two main elements: a unique music composition, produced and recorded at the Terra Sounds studio, as well as a presentation-concert, featuring clarinetist, Matvey Kostukovsky and pianist, Paul Goldman.

The JukeboxGroove music piece has been produced in collaboration with numerous Terra Sounds’ gifted instructors, who also happen to be accomplished, in-demand Chicago musicians, including Doug Rosenberg, Dane Crozier, and James Davis.

Considering the JukeboxGroove Project’s purpose is to honor Jewish musicians, the presentation will sure include acclaimed Jewish tunes of different genres, including klezmer, classical, jazz, and popular music.  “We will diversify our play with interesting facts, stories, and jokes about Jewish musicians and composers,” says Matvey Kostukovsky, clarinetist and co-producer of the JukeboxGroove tune.  “I’m really excited, because this project is different from anything we have ever done in the past.”  The event will take place at Terra Sounds School of Music & Arts and is free of charge. Space is limited, so please contact the school to RSVP.
